The Town of Chester is completing a state-mandated revaluation of all real estate for the October 1, 2008 Grand List. A notice was mailed indicating your new and old assessments.

If you believe this assessment is not reflective of 70% of the current market value of your property, you may request an informal hearing with a representative of Total Valuation Services, the firm conducting this revaluation. To make an appointment for such a hearing, residential property owners may use the button above to schedule an appointment online. Hearings will be held by appointment only.
You may also call the Chester Town Hall at (860) 526-0013 x512 between 9 AM to 12:00 Noon and 1:00 PM to 4 PM, Monday through Thursday, and Friday 9:00 AM – 12 Noon before January 9, 2009. Commercial property owners must call the above number for a hearing appointment.
Hearings will be held at Chester Town Hall, 203 Middlesex Avenue in the 2nd floor conference rooms. Notices regarding the outcome of your hearing will be mailed by February 2009. If you wish to further challenge your October 1, 2008 real estate assessment, you may file an appeal with the Board of Assessment Appeals by submitting a written request on the prescribed form by March 20, 2009.
